VCDHA President's Message
Autumn is upon us again. The summer seems to go by so fast. Our Ventura component is alive and kicking. Some of our board members have held their positions and their activity on the board for quite some time; we're changing hats a little. What we need is "new blood". I have been continuing education chair for at least 11 years, Becky Anderson has agreed to take over the position. It's my turn to be president and I look forward to the coming year. Becky Griswold will be newsletter chair. Erica Johnson will continue to represent membership. Stacey Goodman will continue to be treasurer. Peggy Lee will continue to be vice- president. Karen Michinock will be an asset to community dental health along with her co-chair Kelly Nance. Sue Miller will be secretary. Elaine Seibers will aide us with the students. Elvira Cabelli will continue to do a great job as trustee. Noel Kelsch is representing Ventura County as CDHA president, and we are very proud of her. Stephanie D'Ornellas is busy with her second child. Congratulations!

I keep looking for all the new faces that seem so interested in school, ones we mentor, or sponsor, I'm still waiting for recent graduates to get involved with our component. This is our professional organization for our profession. I know it's easier not to get involved, but being involved is more fun and satisfying. I urge you to get involved, even if it's just a little bit; it's worth it.

As for this years' agenda, our next continuing education course will be October 18, 2008 in Camarillo. Pam Hughes will be speaking on women's health issues. It will be a great presentation for a half-day meeting, and we want a huge turnout for her. Tell your friends. October 25 will be 'Make a Difference Day' at the Simi Valley free clinic. Volunteers are needed. Contact Karen for details. On December 3, Barbara Greene will present a lecture on myofunctional therapy and point out why ortho sometimes relapses. So, look for the flyers and see you soon at the meetings.
